6/19/07 Finish Line- Atlantic City

At 2:39am Eastern Standard Time they rode past the finish line in Atlantic City taking 5th place. Over the 6 days 9 hours and 20 minutes on the road, they logged a total of 3,042.8 miles. Their average speed from the start was 19.84 mph Great job guys- you made us proud! It is finished.

2:11am. I am driving into Atlantic City right now ahead of the team. They have nine miles to finish and they are all riding together. Everyone is really tired and ready for this thing to finish.

It's 11:46pm EST and our estimated arrival is just after 1am! We had a VERY hot day of riding today but it was beautiful countryside and we all rode the last half of the day together. Our legs and butts are sore but boy are we motivated to get to that finish line. Its wonderful to be so motivated for a good cause.

Sun is setting and we are heading into the night, everyone's tried and a little bit edgy but we are moving on. Looking at some cows on the side, the sky is a little hazy, the country side is nice. Other than that we are trying to make it in by 1 or 2 tonight we will see how that goes.

It has been an exciting day of racing. We blew a tire on the way to the of the two teams we survived that and are moving on well. The two teams have merged to close out the race. Sometime with in the next six hours we hope to be hitting Atlantic City and riding in there as a team with all eight going. It has been a good day everyone is pretty tired but doing the best they can.

TS 51 -Hancock, MD. Clock in time was 12:20pm. Miles into the race: 2776.1. Miles to go: 266.7. They climbed 4,340 ft this section bringing them to a total climb of 96,200 ft. Average speed this section: 19.09 mph. And still holding strong in 5th place.

TS 50 -La Vale, MD. Clock in time was 10:02am. Miles into the race: 2732.2. Miles to go: 310.6. They climbed 3,030 ft this section bringing them to a total climb of 91,900 ft. Average speed this section: 18.56 mph.

TS 49 -Gormania, WV. Clock in time was 7:32 am. Miles into the race: 2685.8. Miles to go: 357. They climbed 4,540 ft this section bringing them to a total climb of 88,800 ft. Average speed this section: 16.23 mph.

We are coming into an EXTREMELY hilly and difficult section of the race. We just climbed 14,620ft ove the last 10 hours in only 186 miles. We're getting ready to hand off to Pete's team who has just as much to climb and it's trearing us up. We have 310 miles to go and we're all wasted from these hills.

It's 6am and our follow vehicle blew a tire. Fortunately we were able to get off the road and into a waystation and they are putting on a spare right now so that we can race to catch up with the night team.

TS 48 -Grafton, WV. Clock in time was 4:46am. Miles into the race: 2640.9. Miles to go: 401.9. They climbed 3,730ft this section bringing them to a total climb of 84,300ft. Average speed this section: 18.12 mph. And we are still holding 5th place!

It's 3:53 am and we just entered into Maryland, the sun is up and we have only 370 miles to go!
